A Panchayat is a collective body of elected representatives responsible for carrying out the administrative functions of the Panchayati Raj Institution. In the case of a Gram Panchayat, it is the principal governing body that implements the decisions of the Gram Sabha and manages the day-to-day administration of the village.The main components of a Panchayat are:President: The head of the Panchayat. History of Grama Panchayat

The Panchayat is situated between the Panchayats of Valanchery, Marakkara, and Irimbiliyam in Tirur Taluk, and Kuruvva and Mookkanad in Perinthalmanna Taluk. The Panchayat was formed in 1960 by combining the regions of Edayur and Vadakkumpuram.
